The RA-UK Board 2018
Dr Amit Pawa is the current president of RA-UK as from May 2018. He is a consultant at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital in London. He is a dedicated regional anaesthetist, and is speciality and educational lead for RA. He has pioneered work in awake breast surgery, and lectures internationally.
Immediate Past President
Dr Morne Wolmarans was president of RA-UK from 2015-2018. He is an ESRA board member and examiner, as well as an expert regional anaesthetist. He practices at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital in Norwich.
Dr Nat Haslam is a consultant at City Hospitals, Sunderland. His interests include trauma, block rooms and education. Nat is the honorary secretary for RA-UK, he deals with membership, elections, minutes and general daily running of the society.
Dr Alan Macfarlane is a consultant at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and a honorary senior lecturer at the university. He has published widely on outcomes in regional anaesthesia and lectures internationally. Alan is currently the treasurer for RA-UK and is responsible for the finances.
Webmaster and Comms
Dr Simeon West is a consultant at UCLH, his interests include medical device development, interventional trials, and of course regional anaesthesia. Sim writes and updates the website, maintains the course booking and manages the society communications such as the newsletter.
Other Board Members
Dr Ash Gupta is lead clinician for regional anaesthesia & trainer for advanced module training in regional anaesthesia. He is a board member of North East Society of Regional Anaesthesia and is a founding faculty member of the MSc in RA at UEA.
Dr Lloyd Turbitt is a consultant in Belfast. He is leading transformation at his hospital, introducing a streamlined hand service. He is co-organising the 2019 RA-UK conference in Belfast.
Dr Ben Fox is a consultant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn, the most recently appointed board member, Ben is the course director of the Regional Anaesthesia MSc at the UEA, and is interested in education and standards, as well as being an award winning filmaker.
Trainee Board Member
Dr James Parry is an ST7 trainee in the Central School of Anaesthesia in the London Deanery. He has recently returned from a regional fellowship in Perth, Australia and completed the Regional Anaesthesia MSc at the University of East Anglia. His interests include regional catheters and acute pain.
Co-opted Board Member for Belfast 2019
Dr Rosie Hogg is a consultant anaesthetist in Belfast. She has a specialist interest in regional as well as POCUS. She is organising the RA-UK ASM for 2019, and is coopted to the board for a period of a year.
