Course ESRA Diploma Recognition

UK validation of regional anaesthetic aorkshops for ESRA Diploma status

Participants wishing to take the ESRA Diploma need to meet the requisite qualifying requirements, these include:
Certificate of Attendance of at least two ESRA workshops (National or European) during the last three years: cadaver workshop (mandatory); hands-on; ultrasound; animal.
At present no international certification or accreditation guidelines for course has been agreed. (They must be similar to Innsbruck cadaver course and workshops held at ESRA annual conference / any course without the ESRA logo cannot be accepted – personal communication G.Ivani).
Certification of national workshops at present is the responsibility of the national body or zone representation e.g. ESRA UK & I (RAGBI) for UK and Ireland.

At the mid term board meeting of ESRA Oporto April 2009, an agenda item has been table to look at ESRA guidelines for accreditation of national/ international courses.

At present ESRA UK & Ireland CANNOT accredit any more courses prospectively; any course wishing to be accredited will have to apply for this retrospectively. I apologize for this inconvenience, but it is important that we have specific recommendations from the ESRA board to standardise the content and the teaching of these courses.

All those who have apply to ESRA UK & Ireland at present will get notification to this intent and their documentation will be held and retrospective accreditation will be given where they meet the guidelines required (proposed UK guidelines attached – for comment ). Any course wishing for retrospective accreditation will be asked to produce documentation in line with proposed guidelines or future ESRA guidelines. Reduction in cost for ESRA members is only applicable to future courses where ESRA guidelines apply.

FOLLOWING THE ESRA MID-TERM BOARD MEETING, OPORTO APRIL 3RD 2009 NO COURSES OTHER THAN THOSE OFFICIALLY ADVERTISED AS ESRA / ESRA UK& IRELAND WILL BE ACCREDITED FOR THE ESRA DIPLOMA TILL AFTER SALZBURG 2009 SOME COURSES MAY GET RETROSPECTIVE RECOGNITION AFTER SALBURG.
