Objectives

1. Above Clavicle
Interscalene block

Supraclavicular block
Superficial cervical plexus
Suprascapular nerve
Identify brachial plexus at interscalene level, tracking plexusup and down, identify the scalenes, C5,6,7, phrenic nerve,
vertebral artery, discuss how to do block,complications
2. Below clavicle
Infraclavicular

Axillary block
Elbow and forearm
Identify axillary artery and veins, identify median, ulnar, radial,
musculocutaneous and track them between axilla and elbow,
identify cords at infraclavicular area, discuss how to do block,
complications
3. Catheter techniques
Inplane and OOP needling

Catheter insertion in phantom

4. Anterior thigh
Femoral, Fascia iliaca

Lat fem cutaneous
Saphenous
Identify femoral artery,vein and nerve, bifurcation of the artery,
iliac fascia, iliopsoas muscle, Sartorius and fascia lata, identify
subsartorial canal, gracilis, saphenous nerve, discuss how to
do block, complications
5. Posterior thigh
Gluteal sciatic

Popliteal sciatic block
Identify sciatic nerve in the subgluteal region, posterior
cutaneous nerve of thigh.
Identify popliteal artery and vein. Identify tibial and common
fibular nerves, discuss how to do block, complications.
6. Ankle block Identify tibial nerve, deep and superficial fibulars nerves.
saphenous nerve and sural nerve along with accompanying
blood vessels. Discuss how to do block, complications
7.TAP block and Abdominal
blocks
Identify rectus muscle and sheath, three abdominal muscles,
Plane for TAP block, ilioinguinal nerves. Discuss TAP, rectus
and ilioinguinal nerve block
8.Epidural Waterbath for lumbar spine, identify sacrum, vertebral levels,
lamina, transverse processes, ligamentum flavum, dura.
Measure distance from skin
9.Lumbar plexus block/
Paravertebral
As epidural and also identify peritoneum, kidney, locate
lumbar plexus. Identify the paravertebral space in lower and
upper thoracic regions.Discuss how to do block and
complications.
